2008 Senior Sports Classic

Special Olympics Massachusetts South Section and Islands is proud to host this unique event which caters to athletes over the age of 35 who train and compete in lifetime sports such as race walking, bocce, horseshoes and golf skills. The annual tournament is held is in one of New England’s most popular summer vacation sports: Cape Cod. Festivities begin on Friday evening with Opening Ceremonies at the Sea Crest Resort in North Falmouth. Following dinner, athletes will be treated too their annual evening of dancing to music provided by local talent.

On Saturday, Bourne High School will host the day’s competitions as athletes, volunteers and spectators enjoy an outdoor barbeque and Olympic-town. Following competition, athletes will be recognized at an awards ceremony before heading home. The Parrott Heads will one again provide lunch for all athletes

Sea Crest

 
From Boston Interstate 93 to Route 3 South, take first exit on rotary at Sagamore Bridge to Route 6 West, take the first exit at the Bourne Bridge rotary to Route 28 (Falmouth and the Islands), cross Bourne Bridge over Cape Cod Canal.
From Points North Take Interstate 495 to Route 25 East to Bourne Bridge over Cape Cod Canal. Go over the bridge and follow the directions below from Bourne Bridge.
From Bourne Bridge and Cape Cod Canal Route 28 Falmouth and the Islands) to Route 151 exit, left at bottom of exit ramp, left at first traffic signal (Route 28A South) one mile to rotary, take first exit onto Shore Road, then 1.5 miles to Sea Crest on the right.

Bourne High School

 
From Route 3 Take Route 3 south. Enter rotary and take 1st exit onto US-6 W (Scenic Hwy). Enter rotary and take the ramp towards RT-25/RT-28 S (Providence, Boston, and Falmouth). Go right at the fork toward Falmouth and go over the Bourne Bridge. **Follow directions below
From I-495 Take I-495 South. I-495 South will become MA-25 East. Continue over the Bourne Bridge. **Follow directions below
From Bourne Bridge Go over bridge, enter rotary and take 1st exit onto Trowbridge Road. Drive approximately one half mile and take a left into Bourne High School (after the Peebles School). Go down the hill and follow the yellow SOMA directional signs to the parking area.
From Sea Crest Hotel Trip is just over 9 miles/approx. 20 minutes
Take a left out of Sea Crest parking lot onto QUAKER RD. Go 1.5 miles.
Turn RIGHT onto Route 28A SOUTH and take immediate LEFT onto 28A NORTH. Follow 28A NORTH for 4 miles. Turn RIGHT to stay on 28A NORTH, enter next rotary and take 2nd exit onto Route 28 North. Go 3.1 miles, then turn LEFT onto WATERHOUSE RD. (Note: Rte. 28 is a divided highway, so stay in left hand lane and take mini-off ramp to cross meridian onto Waterhouse Rd.)  Go approx. one-half mile and turn into Bourne High School on the right. There is ongoing construction at Bourne High, so please pay attention to parking & directional signs.
