2020 National Coaches Day - Andrew Christopher

Andrew Christopher - Whitman Area Panthers Floor Hockey

This year for National Coaches Day we are recognizing three outstanding Special Olympics Massachusetts coaches. We received dozens of nominations and were amazed to hear about incredible coaches who are making an impact on their athletes and communities.

"Andrew came to us without any connection to Special Olympics or a Special Olympics athlete. He chose to join us, as an assistant floor hockey coach, because he wanted to make a difference. I retired because Andrew's knowledge and coaching ability made it possible for me to do so. He has brought order and proper training to a team that needed more help than I had the ability to provide. He has brought on 2 former college hockey players as assistant coaches who also had no connection to the Special Olympics. They have forged a relationship with their athletes on both levels ... coach/athlete, friend to friend. It has been remarkable to watch."

-Nominated by George Coffey and James Coffey
