Strike or Spare that is what most people say with such excitement when people go bowling. Sara Lynn is Special Olympics Massachusetts athlete from Living Independently Forever Inc. Cape Cod (LIFE) who participated in bowling for the very first time this year; but that is not all that Sara did. Sara was one of 25 LIFE bowlers to qualify for the Traditional Bowling State Tournament, where she played three games, bowled two strikes, and took home the Gold Medal. That is such a huge accomplishment.
When asked why she likes bowling, Sara said, "I love bowling because it is fun and it is an individual sport," and went on to say that it was "the best experience ever!"
Sara Lynn was surrounded by her teammates and coaches cheering her on. Two of her teammates, Jill Connell and Linda Rowe, were two that competed at the State Tournament as well. Linda took home the Bronze Medal and Jill took home 5th Place. Sara, Jill, and Linda all have participated in LIFE's Basketball team.
LIFE's Bowling team had 32 bowlers total this year. That is the most bowlers LIFE has had since they very first started. Leah Vincent is the head coach for the LIFE Bowling team. Leah went on to say that, ''Everybody had a great year and that each bowler had improved their skills as well."
There is no better way to end a season when you have someone that can try a new sport for the first time and show not just your team but other teams across the State how you can persevere in anything when you put your mind and heart to it.
