Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and implement a portfolio of sports programs across the organization, including but not limited to the following o League and tournament planning which includes producing schedules, event logistics and equipment pack out, scheduling and confirming facilities, vendors, and interfacing and hiring officials
o Volunteer management including recruitment and communications before, during, and after the event
o Identify, train and communicate with volunteer leadership to oversee leagues and tournaments
o Preseason information coach meetings to review upcoming season, key points of emphasis
o Follow up surveys
o Lead staff member and/or point of contact on the day-of, representing and speaking on behalf of SOMA
• Oversee sport training for coaches and volunteer leadership. Training includes sport rules, sport tactics and drills, in game management and strategies.
• Develop and manage trainings for day of volunteers to ensure volunteers are educated on how to work with population and events are executed following Special Olympic rule
• Support execution of School Day Games events
• Manage implementation of Healthy Athlete Screenings
• Ensure that policies, rules, and regulations set forth by Special Olympics Massachusetts are being followed at all levels of the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned
Skills Needed:
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, public speaking, networking and relationship management skills
• Strong event planning and execution background with exceptional attention to detail and ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends
• Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities
• Demonstrated capability to conduct oneself in a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with people and/or with difficult situations.
• Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff, volunteers, and other constituents.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the following skills:

Background Requirements:
• Bachelor’s
• Position is based in Marlborough and is not a remote/hybrid role
• Minimum 2-5 years in non-profit event management, sports management, project management or related field
