March was Madness for One Cape Cod Program

April 17, 2024

March Madness always is exciting, not just watching the Bracketology with Men and Women’s College Basketball but waiting for the Special Olympics Selection Show Live. The Special Olympics LIFE basketball program got together for the selection show to see who would be going to the 2024 State Games.

The LIFE basketball program had another incredible season.  The program has a total of 50 players that were split into 4 teams. The four team names are LIFE  Force,  Changers, Connectors and Savors.  LIFE’s Basketball teams are coached by the best of the best, they challenge us to play the best to our ability and to work together as a team and most importantly to have fun.

This year each team had a set of Community League games.

The LIFE Savors, Connectors, and Changers played in the Cape Cod League, and the LIFE Force played in the Wolves Den League. Every team played very hard and at the end each team made it to the playoff games. In the end, the LIFE Connectors took home the Bronze Medal, and the LIFE Savors, Changers and Force took home Silver.

After watching the selection show it was decided that the LIFE Force, Savors and Changers were selected but the Life Connectors fell short.  Hats off to the LIFE Connectors for a fantastic season full of so much energy and challenging my team (the LIFE Changers) during scrimmages during our practices.

Earlier this month, all three LIFE teams that competed at Basketball State Games played very hard and had a lot of fun and all three teams brought home the Bronze Medal!

Coach Ian Saarmann said, “The League Play and State Tournament were very competitive this year. It was so great to see such a high level of basketball in all divisions. Life teams had an awesome time participating and we look forward to next season.”

Congrats to everyone on a great season and thank you to everyone for making it fun.
