Meet Xtra Mile Boston Marathon Runner Sri Sundar!

Meet the 2018 Xtra Mile Boston Marathon Team helping us to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Special Olympics Movement by running 26.2 miles for inclusion!

This year, we are very proud to have two Special Olympics Massachusetts athletes on our team. One of those athletes is Sri Sundar who competes with the Brookline local program.

Sri is 22 years old and has two passions in life - sports and music. Sri competes in a variety of sports for Special Olympics Massachusetts, runs for fun and is a gifted and talented musician. He plays the violin in a rock band called the MUSE Foundation which is a band made up of individuals with and without intellectual disabilities playing together. He also plays Indian classical violin with his dad. In addition to the violin, Sir plays the piano and is learning to play the drums!

Last year Sri took on the Providence Marathon with his mom who has been one of Sri's biggest cheerleaders. Providence was Sri's first marathon.  Now, returning to the 26.2 mile goal, Sri is back and ready to take on the 2018 Boston Marathon as a member of the Xtra Mile.

Sri is one of three Special Olympics Massachusetts athletes ever to run the Boston Marathon as a member of the Xtra Mile team.

Being one of the runners on our 26 member Boston Marathon team, Sri is not only making a difference in the lives of our athletes in 2018, but will have a lasting impact on Special Olympics Massachusetts that will help our movement and organization continue to support athletes just like him of today and tomorrow as we look forward towards the next 50 years of sports opportunities and inclusion!
