The moment you walked into Point32Health’s headquarters on Tuesday, March 4th, you were met with balloons bobbing in the hallway, laughter and friendly conversations filling the space, cornhole boards, a photo booth, and people getting ready for what they knew was going to be a very COOL afternoon.  

The annual Polar Plunge isn’t just about taking a dip in ice-cold water (though, yes, that was happening). It’s about raising money to support Special Olympics Massachusetts ad inclusive sports programming across the state. This year, Point32Health employees and their foundation went above and beyond! With employees raising more than $20,000, the Point32Health Foundation has jumped on board to match their contribution—providing more than $40,000 to help bring inclusive sports opportunities to individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Over the past year, Point32Health has been a great supporter of Special Olympics Massachusetts, serving as the official Health Insurance Partner. But this event? This really showed just how deeply committed they are. The support came from all levels of the company—employees, leadership, and the foundation itself—coming together to make a difference.  

“We are really committed to this partnership,” said Betty Russell, Creative Services Program Manager, Senior Marketing Writer at Point32Health. “But we’re plunging because we wanted to raise money for Special Olympics beyond our partnership.

The excitement at the Point32Health Polar Plunge hit a new level when Boston Celtics player Derrick White arrived, showing his support for the plungers and taking the time to meet some of our Inclusion Ambassadors. Athletes are the heartbeat of the Special Olympics movement, proving every day that sports are for everyone. Seeing them share stories, snap pictures, and connect with Derrick was a reminder of exactly why we were all there.  

The brave Point32Health plungers lined up at the edge of Bear Force One and took turns jumping into the cold water all in support of Special Olympics MA. Why’d they do it? Because that quick, freezing moment is nothing compared to the impact it makes. Every dollar raised helps provide sports, training, and leadership opportunities for Special Olympics athletes across Massachusetts.
